Free Text Messages

Text messages cost money to send. It is only pennies but those numbers add up. Or do they?

Too cheap, er, frugal to pay these costs? Just fire up your email client, enter the person’s phone number in the “To” box, along with the appropriate carrier-specific e-mail address from below and hit “Send”. The message will appear on the recipient’s phone as an SMS text message. Note: All phone numbers are 10 digits with no dashes or spaces (for example: 2125551212).

AT&TPhoneNumber@txt.att.net
NextelPhoneNumber@messaging.nextel.com
SprintPhoneNumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile- PhoneNumber@tmomail.net
VerizonPhoneNumber@vtext.com
Virgin Mobile- PhoneNumber@vmobl.com

The person receiving the message still has to pay, but you won’t. (As far as I know, this is for North America only; sorry international readers).
