Google is taking aim at social media again. Soon, you should have a new tab in your Gmail account that will give you access to Buzz, which is designed to make sense of your social media world.
I wonder how they will make this work in the Gmail GUI, which I use every day but still don’t find intuitive. According to this Mashable post, it is supposed to update comments in real time and allow you to choose who sees what, a la Facebook. I will be curious how they manage this as the Google brand is hardly synonymous with privacy.
My account hasn’t been updated yet and yours probably hasn’t either. This article in PC World shows how you can get a preview now.
Anyway, this is one to keep an eye on. One’s gut says that nothing can topple Facebook but we all said the same thing about MySpace so who can say?
